So we took her to Sierra College.
After looking at 4 houses in an afternoon, we found ourselves in Rocklin just before 5 pm rush hour traffic. So we cut across town, purchased a $2 parking ticket at the college, and wandered up to the science building. All ready Abby saw things she liked.
First we looked at all the giant line drawings of ancient creatures on the walk ways.
Then we went into the science building, where years ago I took Geology and Lee took Cultural Geography. We knew Abby would like to see all the dinosaur fossils on display in this building. And Sierra didn't disappoint.
One of the first things Abby saw was a Pteranodon hanging from the ceiling. One of her favorites!

Abby seemed truly impressed by the size of the T-rex head hanging high on the wall.
And the other put together dinosaur skeletons wowed her too.
She even tried to size up a fossilized Theropod's footprint to her own. Not a great shot, but she realized that her tiny foot barely covered the size of the claw mark. WOW!
There were other things to look at in the science building. Stuffed bears, animal heads, fossilized sea creatures, a seismometer, impressive rock collections, and even a butterfly display.
Abby had a blast.
Afterwards we walked the campus holding hands, explaining to our little toddler (who was less than impressed) that this was where mommy and daddy had first met. We took her to see some art. We saw old teachers; we walked to the very room where Lee and I had first set eyes upon each other; we avoided a couple people we knew; and we wound up in the music building.
We looked around and found a practice room that was empty. A beautiful piano was inside and we let Abby play. With respectful care, of course.
All in all, it was a nice little adventure. And not a bad way to spend 2 bucks.
