Neighborhood Watch

Though we're not officially part of our local Neighborhood Watch program, we were aware of it by the signs posted down all of our side streets. So when we had our own suspicious incident, we printed the below flier and passed it out to our immediate neighbors. Abby helped us and even got a kick out of walking up the driveways of all the houses we had told her to stay out of. Ah, the simple pleasures of youth.

To Our Neighbors,

On Monday, at approximately 7:45 AM, we believe a person of suspicion attempted to case our home to determine if it was unoccupied during business hours. Please be on the look out for any suspicious activity in our immediate area.

My wife normally leaves for work at a set time. On Monday she was running late and when she backed out of the garage and onto the street, she saw a young man walk down the middle of the street. He noticed her in the car, and stared at her. When she drove past him, he moved off to the side of the road.
In less than 4 minutes, he was ringing our door bell. I was still home. It took me a minute or so to get to the door and he was ringing it again. I saw him peering in through our front windows. When I confronted him through the glass, demanding to know if he could read our “no soliciting” sign, he said he was looking for someone named “Brennen.” This was obviously a ploy.
He had seen my wife drive away to work, marked the house she had left from, and went to check if it was unoccupied. Why else ring our door bell at 7:45 in the morning?

Both my wife and I had gotten a very good look at him. He is a juvenile male, anywhere from 14 to 17 years old. Approximately 5'8” in height and medium to skinny build. He was wearing black baggy pants, a white under shirt, and a light jacket. His shoes were big, black with white laces pulled loose.

Please be on the look out for any suspicious activity – and then call the cops!
