We Give Up!

House hunting is HARD!

Not only that but it's been thrown in our face time and time again that we simply can't afford it. Our problem? Even though we're looking at houses in our price range, some of them 30 to 40 thousand under our price range, we're consistently being out bid. We've made several offers, on several different homes, in several different areas, and the THEMS out there are bidding 50 to 60 thousand more than us. We just cannot compete with that.

So, we started looking well below our price range, and we started seeing homes that we just couldn't bring Abby into. Either that or they were in neighborhoods that we couldn't bring Abby to. Sigh.

So we gave up. We were thinking about taking a 4 month break or something and see if the market changes during the holidays.

Then we got a phone call. It was about a house we had seen months ago. This house was funny. When we pulled up, it definitely had curb appeal - in a kinda totally forgettable way. It was completely nice on the inside. I can remember the inside but it was nothing special, nothing that spoke to us. The asking price was way below what it should have been, so we knew not to bother because we were cynical enough at this point to know we were going to be outbid on this one because it was nice. When we found out no one had made a bid on it at all yet, we still didn't get excited. When the selling agent called our agent to suggest a bid price, we still didn't get excited. We had become very jaded at this point. We figured the selling agent wanted to use us to get that first bid made so they could pump up the "interest" and thus the price. Our agent said we should risk it, so we did. Sure enough, as soon as we made an offer, the selling agent must have gotten others because they turned us down for a higher bid. AGAIN!

We wrote it off and continued looking. But now the seller contacted our realtor to find out if we were still interested. Sure. Why the hell not? We're not holding our breath though. Undoubtedly they'll just use us again for pumping up the "interest" in their property. Whatever.

We're done thinking about this stuff. For now anyway... I'm ready to start thinking about our vacation. Yeah!
