So what is a "flash mob"? It's a moving/mobile mob usually organized via email, text, or social media. The mob's goal is mutable, but it usually entails gathering at a single location, completing the group's activity, and then dispersing. Most notable flash mobs have involved dances or singing. The most recent flash mob happened at the Galleria mall in Roseville where the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra put out the word to flash mob the Galleria Mall to generate business (it recently closed due to a fire) and to sing the chorus of Hallejuah.
How do I know this? Did I actually participate in a flash mob?
Heck, no. I've got better things to do with my time. But I heard all about it from a gentleman at work who is a member of the Sacramento Choral Society and who was there in person. He brought it up to me because he was standing next to a mall security guard who was sweating bullets trying to direct people.
Ha! Could you imagine going to work, thinking it would be a normal day on the job when suddenly 5,000 people show up out of no where and queue towards one location - the guy at work said the meeting place was suppose to be the food court? HA!
Anyway, the food court is on the second floor of the mall. Apparently, with that many people on the second floor, the supports made a loud POP sound and people felt the floor move. Approximately 50 people called 911. The management got onto the PA system and asked everyone to leave for their own safety. The guy from work said they moved their singing group outside and sang the chorus in the parking lot.

Want to see a "successful" flash mob? This one took place on the 2nd floor of a mall in Canada.
And now they're talking of doing something similar at VSP. Sheesh.
