One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

 

Abby finally got her fish. Not just a fish, but a fish tank, a filter, a heater, gravel, other tank accoutrement and two additional fish. Our researched estimate was around $85 for all the items she needed. So Abby saved up 85 bucks. I was really impressed she did it.

When it was time to buy though, she lucked out on a shopping trip with Aunt Shawna. They found a PetsMart that was closing down and everything was priced to move. They got everything they needed there, minus the actual fish. And they got everything for way less than $85. Woot!

About a week later Abby actually got the fish. We went to the local pet store and got three guppies. One she named Sapphire, for his beautiful blue tail. One she named Sunset, for his bright yellow and red tail. The last was a smaller guppy with sleek fins but neon coloring. She named him Zippy.

She was so excited and so thrilled to have her fish. She saved for months and months, so Lee and I were happy to she her patience paid off. We have our misgivings though. We doubted the fish would last long. But we kept our opinions to ourselves while Abby went on and on about how much she loved animals and wanted all sorts of creatures to care for. She had the fish for less than five days before she started talking about saving up for a "small reptile - or maybe a snake. Don't worry mom, it would be a very small snake."
