Monday Madness

Bailey is doing well. She has learned a lot of commands - sit, stay, bark, lay down, roll over (sort of), out, jump (sort of), and up (that's like a step up). She even knows a couple non-verbal commands - sit, down, stay, and bark (up to three barks in a row).

We were even trying to get her to ring a bell to let us know when she needed to go out. But that just hasn't been working. Lee thinks that the bell actually hurts her ears. I don't know, but she does seem to avoid the bell. Speaking of potty, she is still having accidents of "excited" peeing. She doesn't just pee in the house anymore. She's much, much better at holding it and waiting to go outside. But if someone stops by for a visit, or she's surprised by someone, she'll pee. She won't usually release her whole bladder, just a drop or two. Or three or four or five or six, depending on how excited she is.

If you ever come over for a visit, try to ignore the dog until she has mellowed out and calmed down. Please!

But we love her to pieces. Abby most especially. She does a good job helping out with the dog. She has also gotten so much better about being the "alpha dog." She can command Bailey to do almost anything now. She also doesn't run away from Bailey when she's mad or frustrated. Now she'll try as much as she can to command Bailey herself, but if she can't she'll actually ask us for help. It's been great.

I'm so happy to have a dog again! Lee took the photo and played with the image as well. I think you can tell he's happy to have a dog in the family too!
