ANTS ANTS ANTS! Is there anything more annoying than ants in the home? They are the most persistent, pestilent, pestiferous pests imaginable. Worse than kids even.
With spring and the ripening of our fruit trees and all the flowers opening up, those tiny little black ants suddenly were everywhere. We first noticed them in front of the garage. It looked like a turf war. I imagined tiny gangsta' ants doing drive bys and saying "yo man, this is our hole." Within days it escalated into full on ant nuclear war. Mountains of writhing ant bodies struggled with one another. By morning, the drive way was littered with the specks of lifeless ants. We thought a new ant society had effectively won and the war was over. But that was not the case. Day after day, the same ant mountains swarmed up and then vanished.
Then we noticed the ant scouts in the dining room. We attempted to keep the floors clean to allow the scouts to do their jobs and go back empty handed. But, as you can imagine with a 2 year old who likes to stash secret caches of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches around the dinning room, and with a bird that loves to shoot seed shells and apples peels across the linoleum just to see them skid, it was a futile effort. More ants returned. Then more. Then more in different rooms.
Well, if they want a turf war: BRING IT! It's on now. "Yo ant, this is our home!"
Stay tuned for more. Same ant channel. Same ant time.
